Asif Ali - 15th August 2006

I really enjoyed the Eastleigh Mini Mela. The Pukaar band was great and the music was different yet exciting. I could see that the band was pulling the crowds and people were interested in the music and performance. I work on Unity101 radio and the next day during my show, I actually got over 15 calls in the first hour of my programme to play music from Pukaar - especially the tune of Galasian Charr. Everyone's favourite. Well done and keep it up!

Where do I start, so much to say after my 1st encounter with Pukaar during EAT festival at Bargate, oh my god I was literally swept off from my feet with intensive and fantastic rhythms of multicultural Pukaar band, to say least! Am just so impressed with the whole idea and the fact that it is actually happening in Southampton, of bridging the gaps and bridging together different ethnic groups in such versatile, diverse ways. The music and seeing the live performance of Pukaar band is just purely amazing experience, so much looking forward the next performance, and the curry night, can't wait!! Hope it will be soon! Best wishes Paula Poysti

Tony McCarthy, Community Development Officer for Refugee Action

As a community development officer I have always quoted Pukaar as an example of best practice in the way that it aids the integration of refugees. I have worked with the project for over 2 years and have seen it flourish. Our organisation, Refugee Action, is proud of the work we are undertaking with Pukaar to such an extent that the project is often mentioned in our national publications. As an individual I can also highly recommend the events, they are great fun.

I am really pleased to be associated with and support the Pukaar project. Pukaar does a great job in bringing together people from different cultures over food and music and celebrating what we have in common. The food and music is always exceptional and I have made many friends as a result of this initiative. If you have not been to an event, make sure you go to the next event! www.thinkmediamusic.com

Having recently attended for the first time, I'd just like to comment on how much fun I thought the curry party (11/10/03) was - I thought it was great! Unfortunately my friend and I didn't get there till late so we missed all the food! Romail was fantastic as the MC, the guests were really engrossed and I hadn't realised that Romail can sing as well! I had a really good time and I could see that everyone there really enjoyed themselves also. I hope to attend the next one & next time I might even be brave enough to join the other guests for a dance, and I'll ensure that I get there early to enjoy the food!!

Having been to 3 Pukaars now I can recommend the event as a great night of drinking, eating, dancing and especially meeting new people...in an atmosphere of conviviality and gay abandon. Good work Romail and thanks David for your generosity.
